AusDesign has been registered as an assessor with the Sustainable Energy Authority since the start of mandatory ratings under Victorian Legislation in 2002.
Our involvement in low energy and thermally efficient designs goes back to 1984 when Jade Homes were presented with the first 5 Star certificate for Building Design and Efficiency awarded in Victoria.
Altough our principal business direction is still focussed on providing individually designed homes for Clients, we also provide Thermal Assessments for Builders, Developers, Architects and the General Public as an adjunct.
The AusDesign Energy Rating (Thermal Energy Assessmant) Fees below are based on a 'one off' rating for Victorian clients, using the FirstRate 5 assessment programme.
An initial assessment is undertaken from the information supplied and the result emailed back to the Client.
In the event of the design not achieving a required '5 Star' level we will provide alternative solutions to raise the thermal efficiency of the building.
Once the final details are established we electronically endorse the drawing files and email them back together with the required reports to submit to your Building Surveyor.
Prices are current to June 1 2010 for plans supplied electronically in a PDF format.
These files can normally be supplied directly to us from your Building Designer.

Floor plan showing
Elevations showing

If not shown on drawings.
It should be noted that once the final rating and stamping of plans has been completed, none of the drawings can be altered without a new rating being undertaken.
Building Surveyors will not accept construction plans that vary from the stamped Energy Rated plans.
Extensions to existing Dwellings.
5 Star energy requirements apply to renovations or alterations to existing homes in Victoria as of the 1st of May 2008.
Prior to this date home renovations were required to achieve a 3 Star rating or comply with Vic. table 1, Victoria additions, volume 2 of the Building Code of Australia.
Energy Rating software can not be used to rate 'stand alone' extensions.
Your Building Designer will need to determine insulation levels, glazing requirements etc under the 'Deemed to Satisfy' requirements of the Building Code of Australia and document your plans accordingly.
If your Designer is uncomfortable with this, AusDesign can provide 'Deemed to Satisfy' calculations and endorsement of drawings for your project.
