Window Energy Rating Scheme.
The Window Energy Rating Scheme, known as WERS is widely adopted by window manufacturers.
The scheme enables windows to be rated and labelled for their annual energy impact on a whole house, in any climate of Australia.
To participate in WERS, window makers must obtain energy ratings for their products from a rating organisation that is accredited by the WERS Management Committee.
The Window Energy Rating Scheme is jointly owned by the Australian Window Association and the Australian Glass and Glazing Association and is managed by a committee comprising six members made up of the Associations' Executive Directors, current Presidents and a nominated third seat in each representing technical aspects. .
WERS is independent of any one manufacturer and acts as a fair, rigorous and credible system for testing performance claims.
WERS-rated windows must meet all relevant Australian standards.
Energy Raters, when including details on window types, can select from 'generic' type windows or from listed WERS rated windows.
It is important to pass any selected window information onto them as it can assist in increasing the points score on your rating.
